The complete unique Equi-N-icE cooling system is available for the first time in Australia. To complement the existing Equi-N-icE bandages, this proven system now includes a unique Rapid Cooler Rug which when combined with a special liquid coolant, works by dropping the horse’s temperature as quickly and safely as possible.

How it Works

The Benefits

Horses that are hot and/or performing in hot climates but are cooled quickly are less likely to suffer heat stress. They recover more quickly, avoid dehydration and consistently perform better. Excessive stress due to heat results in muscle injury and breakdown as well as longer term physiological problems.

During exercise there is a significant increase in the amount of heat produced by working muscles. Heat production can increase by as much as 50% during periods of intense exercise. In response, a horse increases its sweating rate, moves more blood to the capillaries under the skin and increases its rate of breathing in an effort to release this build-up of heat.

Effective heat loss through sweat requires convection and evaporation. The Equi-N-icE Rapid Cooler Rug and Bandages provide quick evaporation and therefore cools muscles faster speeding recovery times.

It is made from Coolmax® fabric known for it’s “cool” properties in reducing skin temperature in human athletes. Your Rapid Cooler rug is also easily cleaned in your standard domestic washing machine.

More importantly, it’s cost effective. Once you make your initial investment in your rug all you need to do is buy the economical recharge liquid coolant for continued use of your rug. As the Rapid Cooler rug is not a paddock turn-out rug, you can expect it to give you a long service life and the unique design means it will fit all your horses from 14hh upwards so you don’t have to buy multiple rugs.

You can expect to get at least 4 full recharges from a 500ml bottle of recharge coolant when you use it for the full 3 hours cooling time – more if you are using it for shorter periods.
