How We Came To Be
When our mare was retired from the racetrack and bought home she had already made up her mind that the bridle and bit was something she was not interested in having near her again. After spending 8 months trying various things such as having her teeth examined, back checked and a professional trainer called in there was still no difference in her attitude towards the bridle.
The idea for this product came about after reading an article on bitless bridles in Hoofbeats magazine. It was written by a reader who road tested a bridle which is produced by an American vet who has researched all the health and psychological benefits that could be achieved for your horse by not using a bit. He also mentioned a few "behavioural" problems such as rearing and bucking that horses may experience from the use of a bit.
After discovering that our local horse accessory stores did not sell a bitless bridle, we tried surfing the web to find one. After calculating the cost of the cheapest bridle, plus postage, converted to Australian dollars, plus the chance of customs duty and the risk of non-delivery, we decided not to proceed.
Having no other alternative, we researched several varieties of bitless bridles from all around the world and made one for ourselves based on a few different styles of bridles. This turned out to be the answer for our mare who only took 10 minutes of convincing to accept this bridle after 8 months of not letting one anywhere near her. Once friends saw this they all wanted to try it. From that experience we decided to investigate the market and found a huge, unsatisfied immediate demand as well as the potential for re-education of the remainder of the market. Research into anything equine in Australia is very difficult and expensive to obtain, but we managed to gather enough data to provide a reasonable guide to the likely outcome of producing the product ourselves.
From there we commissioned several prototypes that have been tested and refined until the product evolved to its current state. We decided that the product must offer the best possible quality at the lowest possible price. To that end we decided to use the vastly superior Apollo material and streamline our manufacturing and distribution channels so that the NoBit Bridle" is cheaper than a conventional bridle and bit of similar or even lesser quality, and much cheaper than the imported alternatives.
Our Management Principles
We adhere to the principles of Total Quality Management and Service and as such seek to continuously improve both the quality of the product and our service standards. The improved welfare of horses is always the highest goal of our organisation, therefore we are often involved with workshops, clinics and demonstrations of all areas of horse care with like minded professsionals within the industry to improve the overall life of horses.
